Fun to see all of the rules/variations in product design! An random note, Skippy peanut butter’s branding was initially jumping off of the comic strip “Skippy” and it’s popularity in film and radio, the branding copied the lettering on the fence in other licensed products, and of course the name. It would have been like someone making a “Snoopy” peanut butter without Charles Schulz ok in the 60’s. Lawsuits continued between the two for a long time over the use of the name, don’t think it was ever resolved
Your newsletter is such a delight! I would say I fall into category 2 & 4 this time around. Definitely a couple new-to-me brands from category 4 that I’m going to have to try now.
I eat peanut butter (natural, crunchy) every afternoon! I make a bowl of PB mixed with cacao nibs and use as a dip for apple slices & TJ’s honey whole wheat pretzel sticks. Every day. I’m super-cranky without this ritualized snack.
I’m from the UK and this was like US peanut butter packaging tourism. And I loved it. Peanut butter supremacy always (I just had peanut butter for breakfast. obviously)
wow this is the ultimate compliment! my favorite part of international travel is visiting the grocery stores so I'm glad this newsletter is able to fill that role even a little bit
Yes supermarkets abroad are the absolute best and sometimes underrated part of going to new places. So much excitement and possibility! Very happy to be scouring the US food aisles from your eyes.
Years ago, I tried to carry-on the biggest jar of whipped peanut butter from Toronto (I'd never had such a thing). To my surprise, TSA said it had to be checked (peanut butter is a liquid??) or given up. I didn't have time to check my bag, so pb and I said goodbye :( still never seen whipped peanut butter in the US.
I have heard so many horror stories like this. and if course liquids that seem more like solids are always what I want to bring home. whipped peanut butter is going to haunt me now too, I need to get to canada!
Another thing I found interesting was the “crunchy vs creamy” distinction, as over here I feel like it’s always “crunchy vs smooth”! I don’t think I would immediately understand what the socks were referencing!
so interesting that it's more smooth over there vs. creamy! I was wondering where austin butler got that from. guess I need to get myself to dublin again too! thanks for the kind words <3

What stores sell the squeeze bottles?? I prefer squeeze bottles for most creamy things, but I've never seen one irl!! You're blowing my mind today!
the seed + mill squeeze bottle is next on my list of squeezies to procure!

Harry’s Nut Butter is absolutely delicious - especially the spicy version - but made in Dublin, not London as you mentioned!

One more thing: absolutely love this newsletter, it’s so fun and right down my alley, thanks so much ☺️
